Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced player, online poker tournaments offer a great chance to win big without leaving your living room. This my take on playing at 888poker tournaments.
The Different Types of 888poker Tournaments
As poker players, we all want to have a wide selection available when it comes to matches. At 888poker, you can find both single-table tournaments (STTs) and multi-table tournaments (MTTs) with thousands of dollars up for grabs.

Sit & Go
One of the most popular types of STT, a Sit & Go tournament, starts as soon as registration gets filled. 888poker Sit & Go tournaments work on a first-come, first-serve basis.

If you arrive late to sign up, you can’t register late, like with most MTTs. You’ll have to wait until the site opens registration for the next game.
A Sit & Go tournament can have anywhere between two to over 300 players. Usually, tables have a maximum of either six (6-max) or nine (9-max) players. In general, only the top three winners receive a payout.

Games are short and straightforward, making 888poker Sit & Go tournaments ideal for those of us who are just starting. They usually last around 30 to 60 minutes, and they end as soon as someone wins the pot.
MTT
MTT tournaments are low-risk, high-reward for those who don’t want to pay an outrageous buy-in price. Unlike STT tournaments, players move between tables as the game progresses until just a final table is left.

In 888poker MTT tournaments, only one player wins the pot. This means bigger potential winnings if you decide to enter, even with a low buy-in amount.
However, there have been times where I haven’t won and still walked away with something to show for it. Around 10% to 15% of players will walk away with their initial buy-in amount, if not more, while top players may walk away with as much as 30% of the prize pool.
Progressive Knockout Tournament
For those of us who thrive with a little bit of competition, a Knockout Tournament (KO) can raise the stakes. Every player at a table has a bounty on their head. The end objective is to knock as many people out of the game as possible. Each time that you do, you accumulate their bounties until a winner gets established.
An 888poker Progressive Knockout Tournament (PKO) works similarly to a KO in that each player comes with a bounty. In a PKO tournament, however, this isn’t a set number. The longer a player stays in the game, the higher their bounty rises.

Multi-Flight
While most STT and MTT matches often last just hours, a multi-flight tournament can last for a week or more. It has multiple entry days so that players can join at different starting phases.
Eventually, you can qualify for the final phase of betting for a chance to win the tournament. You can’t register for this phase through 888poker; instead, you have to work your way there. The prize pool won’t get distributed until this final phase of the competition.

Satellite
If you’ve ever seen a televised poker game, there’s a good chance that some of the players started in a satellite tournament. These tourneys have a low buy-in, and instead of winning a prize pool at the end, you win a seat to a more high-stakes game. This allows small-time players to participate in high buy-in events such as the World Series of Poker (WSOP).

Deep Stack
For those of us who are cash gamers, Deep Stack tournaments are one of the best ways to win big. With 888poker Deep Stack tournaments, you start with more chips than your average game, and the blinds go up more slowly. This means that you rely less on luck and more on skill for results, making Deep Stack tournaments a popular choice for experienced players.
Snap Tournaments
If you’re still learning the ropes, snap tournaments offer an easy and low-risk way to get into poker. With this type of tourney, you can fold before you risk losing chips without getting penalized. What’s more, you get a new hand instantly. The game only goes back to regular play once players reach the final table.

Turbo and Super Turbo Tournaments
For those of us in a rush, 888poker has Turbo Tournaments to get your poker fix. These tourneys run faster and last a shorter duration than traditional poker games. The blinds raise quickly, generally lasting around three minutes or less. For some games, it takes just an hour or two to reach the final table.

Heads Up
A heads up tournament can be a little bit less intimidating for poker players with less experience. Unlike traditional STT and MTT games, you’ll be playing against one player instead of an entire table. Each time you win a one-on-one match, you go on to battle other winners until there’s only one person left as champion.
Free Tournaments
If big buy-ins are giving you second thoughts, you can find free 888poker tournaments that don’t require you to risk a single penny. You can enter for free as long as you meet all of the necessary requirements. If you win, 888poker offers real cash payouts for players.

Free 888poker tournaments are usually MTTs with very few playing restrictions. While you have the potential to win big for nothing, it’s important to note that these tourneys are some of 888poker’s most popular. You’ll be facing a lot of stiff competition, even if you’re an experienced player.
Top Tournaments
No matter what type of match I’m looking for, I’ve been able to find regular 888poker tournaments that you can enter to win big. Each tourney only runs for a limited time, so it’s a good idea to check in regularly to see what titles are currently available to take down. Each has a different required buy-in and end prize pool.

Live Events
As much fun as online poker can be, I still like to play face-to-face every once in a while. Fortunately, 888poker tournaments are held throughout the year in major cities worldwide, from Barcelona to Sochi. You can enter by playing and winning a series of satellite games. If you’re good enough, you may find yourself playing alongside major names in the poker sphere.
